Osprey is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sarasota County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,100 at the 2010 census. It is allowance of the Bradenton–Sarasota–Venice Metropolitan Statistical Area.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.1 square miles (16 km), of which 5.5 square miles (14 km2) is home and 0.6 square miles (1.6 km) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 4,143 people, 1,965 households, and 1,383 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 759.5 inhabitants per square mile (293.2/km2). There were 2,267 housing units at an average density of 415.6 per square mile (160.5/km). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.59% White, 0.19% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.87% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 0.36% from supplementary races, and 0.72% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.40% of the population.
There were 1,965 households, out of which 16.2% had children under the age of 18 living as soon as them, 62.7% were married couples animate together, 5.2% had a female householder in imitation of no husband present, and 29.6% were non-families. 25.0% of all households were made stirring of individuals, and 13.5% had someone thriving alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.11 and the average family size was 2.47.
