Palmetto Estates is an unincorporated Place and census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 13,498 at the 2020 census.
Palmetto Estates is located 15 miles (24 km) southwest of downtown Miami at 25°37′11″N 80°21′42″W / 25.61972°N 80.36167°W (25.619782, -80.361752). It is bordered to the east by the village of Palmetto Bay. It is then again bordered by unincorporated communities: Kendal and Richmond Heights to the north, and West Perrine to the south. The western border is the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike. U.S. Route 1 (Dixie Highway) runs along the eastern border.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.44 square miles (21.9 km), of which 8.29 square miles (21.5 km2) are estate and 0.16 square miles (0.41 km), or 1.89%, are water.
As of the 2020 United States census, there were 13,498 people, 3,881 households, and 3,176 families residing in the CDP.
