Lakewood is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sumter County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,603 at the 2000 census. It is included in the Sumter, South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Lakewood is located at 33°51′2″N 80°21′8″W / 33.85056°N 80.35222°W (33.850601, -80.352271).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total Place of 7.8 square miles (20 km), of which 7.6 square miles (20 km2) is home and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km) (2.44%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,603 people, 953 households, and 742 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 343.0 people per square mile (132.4/km2).
