Lake Dalecarlia is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,355 at the 2010 census. The proclaim comes from the English publish of the Dalarna region of Sweden. The community is centered upon the lake of the similar name, which was completed in the 1920s.
The Lake Dalecarlia community is located in southern Lake County at 41°19′54″N 87°24′14″W / 41.33167°N 87.40389°W (41.331727, -87.403852), surrounding a lake of the thesame name. The community is at the northern halt of Cedar Creek Township and is bordered to the north by the town of Cedar Lake.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.6 km), of which 1.1 square miles (2.9 km2) are land and 0.3 square miles (0.7 km), or 19.27%, are water. The community’s namesake lake is a reservoir on Cedar Creek, a south-flowing tributary of the Kankakee River and fittingly part of the Illinois River watershed.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,285 people, 506 households, and 363 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 904.7 inhabitants per square mile (349.3/km2). There were 571 housing units at an average density of 402.0 per square mile (155.2/km). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.21% White, 0.39% African American, 0.39% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.16% from additional races, and 0.78% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.33% of the population.
