Yalaha is an unincorporated Place and census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,364 at the 2010 census, up from 1,175 at the 2000 census. It is portion of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Yalaha is located in central Lake County at 28°44′39″N 81°49′7″W / 28.74417°N 81.81861°W (28.744182, -81.818591), on the south shore of Lake Harris. It is bordered to the west by the Leesburg city limits and to the southeast by the town of Howey-in-the-Hills. The middle of Yalaha is 9 miles (14 km) southeast of the middle of Leesburg, 16 miles (26 km) north of Groveland, and 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Tavares, the Lake county seat.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the Yalaha CDP has a total Place of 14.4 square miles (37.3 km), of which 5.7 square miles (14.7 km2) are land and 8.7 square miles (22.6 km), or 60.60%, are water. Most of the water Place is portion of Lake Harris, part of the upper Ocklawaha River basin.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,175 people, 521 households, and 385 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 188.0 inhabitants per square mile (72.6/km2). There were 601 housing units at an average density of 96.2 per square mile (37.1/km). The racial makeup of the CDP was 83.66% White, 11.83% African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.77% Asian, 2.38% from extra races, and 1.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.68% of the population.
