Somerville ( SUM-ər-vil) is a city in Burleson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,312 at the 2020 census. Somerville is named for Albert Somerville the first president of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway.
Somerville is located near the southern attach of Burleson County at 30°20′41″N 96°31′49″W / 30.34472°N 96.53028°W (30.344616, –96.530335). The city is bordered to the west by Somerville Lake, a reservoir upon Yegua Creek, part of the Brazos River basin.
Texas State Highway 36 passes through the city, leading northwest 17 miles (27 km) to Caldwell, the county seat, and southeast 15 miles (24 km) to Brenham.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Somerville has a total area of 3.0 square miles (7.7 km), of which 0.02 square miles (0.05 km2), or 0.60%, is water.
