Shenandoah is a city in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. Its population was 3,499 at the 2020 census. It is the hometown of David Vetter, the famous “boy in the plastic bubble”. In 1986, the Shenandoah city council renamed Tamina School Road to David Memorial Drive in great compliment of Vetter.
Shenandoah is located at 30°10′47″N 95°27′19″W / 30.17972°N 95.45528°W (30.179855, –95.455175). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), all of it land.
As of the 2020 United States census, 3,499 people, 1,332 households, and 923 families were residing in the city.
As of the 2010 United States Census, 2,134 people, 971 households, and 640 families resided in the city. The racial makeup of the city was 89.1% White, 3.6% African American, 0.3% Native American, 3.1% Asian, 1.7% from extra races, and 2.1% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 9.6% of the population.
