Winfield is a town in Scott County, Tennessee, United States. Originally named Chitwood in the late 18th century for Revolutionary War hero Captain James Chitwood after his family fixed the Place extensively, the reveal was changed with the Civil War due to the family’s mixed allegiances. The population was 947 at the 2020 census and 967 at the 2010 census.
