Colonial Pine Hills is located at 44°0′22″N 103°17′46″W / 44.00611°N 103.29611°W (44.006200, -103.296037).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 17.2 square miles (45 km), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,561 people, 841 households, and 757 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 149.2 people per square mile (57.6/km2). There were 867 housing units at an average density of 50.5 per square mile (19.5/km).
