Clarence is a census-designated place (CDP) in Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is portion of the State College, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 626 at the 2010 census.
Clarence is located in northern Centre County close the geographic middle of Snow Shoe Township. It is bordered upon the south by the borough of Snow Shoe. Exit 147 on Interstate 80 is 3 miles (5 km) south of Clarence on the southeastern edge of Snow Shoe borough.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.65 square miles (4.27 km), all land. The town is in the valley of the North Fork of Beech Creek, which flows east to Bald Eagle Creek, a tributary of the West Branch Susquehanna River.
As of the census of 2000, there were 577 people, 226 households, and 169 families bustling in the CDP. The population density was 350.6 people per square mile (135.0/km2). There were 246 housing units at an average density of 149.5/sq mi (57.6/km). The racial makeup of the CDP was 99.31% White, 0.17% Native American, and 0.52% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.17% of the population.
