East Palestine ( PAL-ə-STEEN) is a village in northeastern Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 4,761 at the 2020 census. Located upon the state’s link up with Pennsylvania, East Palestine is roughly 20 miles (31 km) south of Youngstown and 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Pittsburgh. It is allowance of the Salem micropolitan area.
East Palestine is located along the Norfolk Southern Railway, and has a freight train station. From the 1870s until the mid 1960s, the city was home to industries in ceramics and tire manufacturing.
East Palestine was founded in 1828 as Mechanicsburg, and incorporated as a village in 1875 as East Palestine after the biblical region of Palestine.
