Westhope is a city in Bottineau County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 374 at the 2020 census. Westhope was founded in 1903 along a Great Northern Railway branch descent that began in Rugby. The name was based on the slogan “Hope of the West,” created by Great Northern officials to present prosperity for the new town.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.33 square miles (0.85 km), all land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 429 people, 190 households, and 117 families breathing in the city. The population density was 1,300.0 inhabitants per square mile (501.9/km). There were 218 housing units at an average density of 660.6 per square mile (255.1/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.1% White, 1.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, and 3.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.5% of the population.

There were 190 households, of which 22.1% had children under the age of 18 living in the same way as them, 52.6% were married couples living together, 4.7% had a female householder once no husband present, 4.2% had a male householder afterward no wife present, and 38.4% were non-families. 35.3% of whatever households were made in the works of individuals, and 18.9% had someone breathing alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.15 and the average intimates size was 2.78.
