Stony Point is a census-designated place (CDP) in Alexander and Iredell counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 1,317 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hickory–Lenoir–Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area.
A Stoney Point Post Office was established on February 17, 1826 in Iredell County, with James Thompson as postmaster. The proclaim was misrepresented to Stony Point in 1832. The Stony Point populated place has existed in both Alexander and Iredell Counties since 1847, when Alexander County was created.
