Hays is a census-designated place (CDP) in Wilkes County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,731 at the 2000 census. North Wilkes High School, one of Wilkes County’s four public tall schools, is located in Hays.
Hays is located at 36°14′59″N 81°6′56″W / 36.24972°N 81.11556°W (36.2499, -81.1156).
