Casar is a little town in northern Cleveland County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 297 at the 2010 census.
Casar is located at 35°30′52″N 81°36′58″W / 35.51444°N 81.61611°W (35.514486, -81.616007).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km), all land. According to locals, Casar was originally incorporated as Race Path in 1890. In 1903, the publicize was to be changed to Caesar, but Joe Meade in imitation of the US Postal Service sent off the application for incorporation, the post came back misspelled and the town officially became Casar.
As of the census of 2000, there were 308 people, 132 households, and 93 families residing in the town. The population density was 176.0 people per square mile (68.0/km2). There were 145 housing units at an average density of 82.9 per square mile (32.0/km). The racial makeup of the town was 99.35% White and 0.65% African American.
