Newark Valley is a town in Tioga County, New York, United States. The population was 3,660 at the 2020 census. The town is named after the city of Newark, New Jersey.
The Town of Newark Valley contains a village with named Newark Valley. The town is located in the northeast ration of the county and is northwest of Binghamton.
The first long-lasting settlers arrived re 1791. This Place was called Brown’s Settlement and was portion of the Town of Berkshire until it was organized as the “Town of Westville” in 1823. In 1824, the town misrepresented its state to “Newark,” at the counsel of a settler from New Jersey, but later changed the read out to Newark Valley in 1862, to avoid battle with the name of a village in Wayne County.
