Nixon is a census-designated place (CDP) in Washoe County, Nevada, USA. The population was 374 at the 2010 census. It is share of the Reno–Sparks Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the seat of tribal handing out of the Paiute Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation and house to the tribe’s Museum and Visitor Center.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total Place of 6.3 square miles (16 km), all land.
Nixon was named in tribute of Senator George Stuart Nixon (R), who represented Nevada in the US Senate from 1905–1912.
At the 2000 census there were 418 people, 132 households, and 104 families in the CDP. The population density was 66.2 people per square mile (25.5/km). There were 144 housing units at an average density of 22.8 per square mile (8.8/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 2% White, 96% Native American, <1% Asian, <1% Pacific Islander, and 1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5%.
