Bozeman is a city and the county seat of Gallatin County, Montana, United States. Located in southwest Montana, the 2020 census put Bozeman’s population at 53,293, making it the fourth-largest city in Montana. It is the principal city of the Bozeman, MT Micropolitan Statistical Area, consisting of everything of Gallatin County in the same way as a population of 118,960. It is the largest micropolitan statistical area in Montana, the fastest growing micropolitan statistical area in the United States in 2018, 2019 and 2020, as without difficulty as the third-largest of everything Montana’s statistical areas.
The city is named after John Bozeman, who normal the Bozeman Trail and was a founder of the town in August 1864. The town became incorporated in April 1883 taking into account a city council form of government, and in January 1922 transitioned to its current city manager/city commission form of government. Bozeman was elected an All-America City in 2001 by the National Civic League.
Bozeman is house to Montana State University. The local newspaper is the Bozeman Daily Chronicle; the city is served by Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.
For many years, indigenous people of the United States, including the Shoshone, Nez Perce, Blackfeet, Flathead, Crow Nation and Sioux traveled through the area, called the “Valley of the Flowers”. The Gallatin Valley in particular, in which Bozeman is located, was primarily within the territory of the Crow people.
