Elmo is a city in Nodaway County, Missouri, United States. The population was 168 at the 2010 census.
Elmo was platted in 1879, when the railroad was Elongated to that point. The community maybe was named after the novel St. Elmo. A publish office called Elmo has been in operation previously 1886.
Elmo is located at 40°31′8″N 95°7′3″W / 40.51889°N 95.11750°W (40.518773, -95.117406). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.23 square miles (0.60 km2), all land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 168 people, 71 households, and 43 families busy in the city. The population density was 730.4 inhabitants per square mile (282.0/km2). There were 83 housing units at an average density of 360.9 per square mile (139.3/km). The racial makeup of the city was 97.0% White, 1.2% Native American, and 1.8% from two or more races.
