Polkville is located at 32°11′47″N 89°41′42″W / 32.19639°N 89.69500°W (32.196288, -89.695080).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.3 square miles (6.0 km), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 132 people, 51 households, and 39 families residing in the Town. The population density was 57.0 people per square mile (22.0/km2). There were 62 housing units at an average density of 26.8 per square mile (10.3/km). The racial makeup of the town was 90.91% White and 9.09% African American. Polkville annexed nearly 14 square miles (36 km2) of land later, bringing its population to 833 people. This next made it the largest municipal town in Smith County.
