Custer is a village in Mason County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 285 at the 2010 census. The village is located within Custer Township.
Custer was platted in 1878 and incorporated as a village in 1895. The village was named for George Armstrong Custer.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.98 square miles (2.54 km), all land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 285 people, 110 households, and 72 families residing in the village. The population density was 286.9 inhabitants per square mile (110.8/km2). There were 137 housing units at an average density of 138.4 per square mile (53.4/km). The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.4% Native American, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.9% of the population.
