Colon is a village in St. Joseph County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,173 at the 2010 census. The village is located within Colon Township.
Colon was platted in 1844. It was incorporated as a village in 1904.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.73 square miles (4.48 km), of which 1.37 square miles (3.55 km2) is estate and 0.36 square miles (0.93 km) is water. The town is flanked by Long Lake and Palmer Lake, which are aligned by a narrow channel.
As of the census of 2010, there were 1,173 people, 485 households, and 299 families bustling in the village. The population density was 856.2 inhabitants per square mile (330.6/km2). There were 650 housing units at an average density of 474.5 per square mile (183.2/km). The racial makeup of the village was 97.3% White, 0.3% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% from further races, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
