Cedar Springs is a city in Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,509 at the 2010 census. Cedar Springs is a northern city of the Grand Rapids metropolitan Place and is more or less 20 miles (32.2 km) north of Grand Rapids.
The area was first settled by Robin Hicks as ahead of time as 1855, and the first publish office was established on February 4, 1857, with Nicholas Hill serving as the first postmaster. The new village was platted in 1859. The Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad built a railway origin through the area in 1868 and allowed for the deposit of the village, which incorporated in 1871. The state Cedar Springs came from the abundance of cedar trees and springs found throughout the area. The village incorporated as a city in 1971.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total Place of 2.02 square miles (5.23 km), of which 1.95 square miles (5.05 km2) is estate and 0.07 square miles (0.18 km) (3.47%) is water.
As of the census of 2010, there were 3,509 people, 1,215 households, and 887 families booming in the city. The population density was 1,728.6 inhabitants per square mile (667.4/km2). There were 1,307 housing units at an average density of 643.8 per square mile (248.6/km). The racial makeup of the city was 94.3% White, 0.8% African American, 0.6% Native American, 0.4% Asian, 0.9% from other races, and 3.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.2% of the population.
