Poseyville is a town in Robb Township, Posey County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,045 at the 2010 census.
The town of Poseyville was originally called Palestine when the town was first surveyed and laid out by James Smith on February 28, 1840. The town was set stirring along the New Harmony-Princeton coach line. The additional town was recorded at the Posey County Recorder’s Office upon November 20, 1840.
Palestine was renamed Poseyville subsequently the town got its first pronounce office on February 10, 1843 due to option town named Palestine, Indiana who already had a publish office. The publicize was officially ascribed and distorted by the Indiana State Legislature upon December 26, 1844, but didn’t gain recorded locally. The records books of Posey County make a clean breast the town state was distorted in 1852. This was the year that the town was first referred to as Poseyville in the county records. This was due to the supplement of two additional plats: Cale’s Enlargement and Fletchall’s Enlargement. This tripled the size of the town.
The Bozeman-Waters National Bank was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
