Mechanicsburg is a village in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. The population was 590 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the 2010 census, Mechanicsburg has a total area of 1.07 square miles (2.77 km), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 456 people, 172 households, and 121 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,203.2 inhabitants per square mile (464.6/km2). There were 198 housing units at an average density of 522.4 per square mile (201.7/km).
