Havana is a city in Mason County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,301 at the 2010 census, and 3,040 at a 2018 estimate. It is the county seat of Mason County.

Havana was a major ancient American agreement two thousand years ago, when the largest verified mound of the Western Hopewell Culture was built. Local landmarks were mentioned in the journals of French explorers in the late 1600s. A religious medal dating from the to the front 1700s suggests that there was missionary objection in what is now Havana. When remaining English-speaking residents arrived in 1822, there was a Pottawatomie village upon the site. A ferry was received to the Western bank of the Illinois River to a road that followed Spoon River. There were War of 1812 bounty lands in Western Illinois. Abraham Lincoln was a frequent visitor to Havana amid his days as a soldier in the Blackhawk Wars until at least his three-hour speech on the Rockwell Mound while he was government for the US Senate in 1858. Douglas had spoken there the morning before. When he was younger, Abraham Lincoln rode a mail route from New Salem to Havana. Later, he was a local surveyor, and then an itinerant attorney. Mason County was the deserted place where Lincoln owned farmland. The English-speaking harmony was originally called Ross’s Ferry and was progressive named after Havana, the capital of Cuba.

Havana is located on the Illinois River at 40°17′49″N 90°3′36″W / 40.29694°N 90.06000°W / 40.29694; -90.06000 (40.297067, -90.060004). It is located close the Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge, and a rushed distance from Bath, Illinois. Havana was notorious as a gambling river town, and it is reported that names such as Al Capone would hunt, fish, and gamble in the local clubs. According to the 2010 census, Havana has a total Place of 2.905 square miles (7.52 km2), of which 2.74 square miles (7.10 km) (or 94.32%) is home and 0.165 square miles (0.43 km2) (or 5.68%) is water.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total Place of 2.8 square miles (7.2 km), of which, 2.6 square miles (6.8 km2) of it is home and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km) of it (5.40%) is water.
