St. Anthony is a city in and the county chair of Fremont County, Idaho, United States. The population was 3,542 at the 2010 census, up from 3,342 in 2000. It is share of the Rexburg, Idaho Micropolitan Statistical Area.
Previous to the introduction of St. Anthony, Major Andrew Henry conventional a short-lived fort a few miles west of where the city stands today. This say was last used in the Fall of 1811, but left a lasting mark on the area as Henry is the namesake for the Henrys Fork of the Snake River, which St. Anthony sits along.
The in front history of the city is disputed, with some sources pointing toward St. Anthony beast founded in 1888 by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, while others point to it being expected in 1890. About this same time, a bridge was built greater than the Henrys Fork where St. Anthony stands today. The city was named after Saint Anthony Falls in Minnesota.
The railroad came to St. Anthony in 1899 and the first pronounce office was expected in 1901. Charles C. Moore arrived upon the first train to the city. He taught instructor in the city and served as postmaster from 1908 to 1913 past being elected as commissioner of Idaho in 1922. He unconventional died in St. Anthony at the age of 92.
