Notus is a little rural city in Canyon County, Idaho. The population was 531 at the get older of the 2010 census and is the smallest town out of the eight in Canyon County. It is part of the Boise metropolitan area.

in 1874, the Lower Boise Post Office was established upon the homestead of C.L.F Peterson. The captivation of the Lower Boise Post Office is considered to be the primary reason for the present location of Notus. According to an Idaho Press Tribune article from 1986, Notus got its reveal from the daughter of a local railroad official. The daughter reportedly thought “notus” was of Native American line and meant “it’s all right.” The town of Notus was going on for known as ‘Lemp’.
In 1926, the Notus secondary instructor was founded. In 2017, the dated building was demolished.
