Fairview is a census-designated place (CDP) in Alameda County, California, United States. It borders on the city of Hayward and the census-designated place of Castro Valley. The population was 11,341 at the 2020 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.3 km), of which, 2.8 square miles (7.3 km2) is estate and 0.02 square miles (0.052 km) (0.85%) is water.
The 2010 United States Census reported that 10,003 people, 3,490 households, and 2,512 families resided in the CDP. The population density was 3,617.7 inhabitants per square mile (1,396.8/km2). There were 3,642 housing units at an average density of 1,306.0 per square mile (504.2/km). The racial makeup of the CDP was 45.0% White (36.2% non-Hispanic), 21.0% African American (20.5% non-Hispanic), 0.8% Native American, 15.2% Asian, 1.3% Pacific Islander, 9.1% from supplementary races, and 7.6% from two or more races. 21.7% of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The Census reported that 98.5% of the population lived in households, 0.8% lived in non-institutionalized outfit quarters, and 0.7% were institutionalized.
