Dunsmuir is a city in Siskiyou County, northern California. It is upon the upper Sacramento River in the Trinity Mountains. Its population is 1,707 as of the 2020 census, up from 1,650 from the 2010 census.
Dunsmuir is currently a hub for tourism in Northern California, with Interstate 5 passing through it. Visitors enjoy fishing, skiing, climbing, or sight-seeing. During the steam locomotive railroad era, it was notable for brute the site of an important Central Pacific (and far ahead Southern Pacific) railroad yard, where supplementary steam locomotives were further to support trains upon the grade to the north.
Located in the Shasta Cascade area of Northern California, Dunsmuir is a popular destination for tourists. These stockings take place during the summer months. Catch-and-release fishing is permissible in the river during the off-season, so fly-fishing is manageable year-round.
