Crest is located upon a hill east of El Cajon. According to the USGS it is located at 32°48′26″N 116°52′05″W / 32.80722°N 116.86806°W (32.8072739 -116.8680800). According to the United States Census Bureau Crest is located at 32°48′21″N 116°52′3″W / 32.80583°N 116.86750°W (32.805918, -116.867405), approximately 500 feet to the southeast of the USGS location. The CDP has a total Place of 6.5 square miles (17 km), all land. Mail sent to Crest is addressed to El Cajon, California.
