New Buffalo is a city in Berrien County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,883 at the grow old of the 2010 census and 1,708 at the 2020 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.53 square miles (6.55 km), of which 2.50 square miles (6.47 km2) is home and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km) is water. The city is located on Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Galien River. This forms a natural harbor, which is allocation of the current pleasure-boat harbor drawing summer residents and boaters.
As of the census of 2010, there were 1,883 people, 881 households, and 497 families thriving in the city. The population density was 753.2 inhabitants per square mile (290.8/km2). There were 1,692 housing units at an average density of 676.8 per square mile (261.3/km). The racial makeup of the city was 93.4% White, 1.6% African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 2.6% from supplementary races, and 1.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.4% of the population.
