Privateer is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sumter County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,118 at the 2000 census. It is included in the Sumter, South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Privateer is located at 33°49′11″N 80°23′36″W / 33.81972°N 80.39333°W (33.819630, -80.393205).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.2 square miles (21.3 km), of which 8.2 square miles (21.2 km2) is estate and 0.1 square mile (0.2 km) (0.73%) is water.
