Silver City is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in Hoke County, North Carolina in the United States. The population was 882 at the 2010 census, down from 1,146 at the 2000 census.
Silver City is located in central Hoke County at 34°59′41″N 79°13′42″W / 34.994715°N 79.228395°W, on the north side of the city of Raeford, the county seat. U.S. Route 401 passes through the community, leading east 21 miles (34 km) to Fayetteville and southwest the same distance to Laurinburg. The middle of Raeford is 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Silver City down North Main Street.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.9 km), all of it land. The CDP is bordered to the northeast by Rockfish Creek, a tributary of the Cape Fear River.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,146 people, 424 households, and 303 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 746.7 people per square mile (289.2/km2). There were 465 housing units at an average density of 303.0 per square mile (117.3/km). The racial makeup of the CDP was 3.40% White, 94.24% African American, 0.70% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 0.44% from new races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.31% of the population.
