Townsend is a town in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. The population was 2,049 at the 2010 census, an deposit of 492.2% from 2000. The center of population of Delaware is located in Townsend.
Townsend is located at 39°23′42″N 75°41′30″W / 39.39500°N 75.69167°W (39.3951115, –75.6915973).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km), all land.
On April 3, 1885 the town incorporated. Its primary thing was selling agricultural manufacture via the Delaware Railroad. The railroad has since lost prominence beyond freight hauling, but the town nevertheless remains primarily agricultural with loads of rural area and local produce. The town has previously created a “Comprehensive Development Plan”, as required by state sham February 2003, for house preservation.
